Can corolla maintain its market share?

It takes ages for indus motors to change the model of corolla in pakistan, but still corolla has captured a significant part of pakistani market. Is the corolla worth the purchase or is it only famous because it has been in pakistan for more than a decade? Or is it famous because of a perception of pakistani people that suzuki and toyota are the only reliable brands? Well these questions will soon be answered, because the new corolla for which we all had to wait for quiet a long time has finally arrived.Striving to coope up with honda, indus motors however this time will have to face a greater challenge to induce the new corolla in the market. Reborn itself was a success in the local market and soon became very common on road ,after it was launched. Corolla however is still struggling.Corolla or reborn? Keeping this in mind I would prefer reborn because of its elegant finishing, and the fact that I can change my model of honda every two years, because change and improvement is all I want if we are buying these overpriced cars…

Pakistan consumers urging to stop

Pakistani economy is experiencing a sudden downfall, currently everything is falling apart. Political situation of Pakistan is worsening and even though a democratic government has been established, people of Pakistan are still losing hope for a better future. Government in order to generate revenue is constantly increasing taxes and there is a constant increase in the prices of goods and services with no ending. Government is not taking any action to stop these inflation shocks to help the consumers.
Auto industry in Pakistan is one of the major industry providing employment and business to the 500,000 people, and has unfortunately suffered a lot because of the current situation. In the past prices were usually revised after the budget, which in Pakistan is announced in June of every fiscal year. This trend has now been changed, and prices in the car industry are hiking without any timeline.
Main reason for this incline in prices is due to the policies which implemented a sales tax increase up to 16%, five percent FED and fixing wht at 2.5% in current budget, besides all this increase in taxes , inflation raised the prices to about 21.5%. Increase in oil prices, and high interest rate made the situation more difficult. Moreover, a continuous increase in steel prices, by Steel Mills, increased operating cost for automotive sector. Price of steel used by automotive sector increased by Rs 7,500 per tonne in July and Rs 8,500 per tonne in August making around 12 percent increase in both months.
Pakistani consumers have been left alone, with the government shutting its eyes and ignoring the burden they have put on consumers, and watching silently the adverse effects on the economy soon automobile industry will hit rock bottom.
After a boom of about five years the demand of cars has slowed down by 55 percent. The highest decline was seen in the sales of 1300cc and above cars, which decreased to 1,382 units in July 2008 as compared to 4,701 in July 2007, showing a decline of 71 percent, the lowest since November 2003. A month wise analysis shows that not a single category of vehicles showed positive results. For example, besides 1300cc cars, there was a decline of 79 percent in 1,000cc cars, 33 percent in 800cc cars and in all categories of cars decline was 66 percent. Trucks sales lowered by 43 percent, buses 60 percent, LCVs/vans 26 percent, tractors 45 percent, motorcycles and rickshaws 17 percent. While total sales of auto sector was 29 percent less then the previous month, June 2008, 80,156 units down to 57,203 units in July 2008.
This downfall in the demand for automobiles in Pakistan is further supported by the significant and unreasonable increse in interest rates, and car financing through banks has also become expensive. Middle income group mostly been affected, interest rates in May/2008 were upto 15% and till today they have been increased upto 20%. Demand for 1000cc and 800cc vehicals has declined significantly. Beside this increase in prices of cars, cng prices were rised from RS 38.50 to 44.50.
Second hand cars are also getting out of reach of consumers belonging to middle income bracket, as this sudden increase in prices of new cars have pushed consumers to consider other options and as an effect consumers are now experiencing boost in prices of second hand cars as well.
The scenario in which people of pakistan are stuck in, if not changed soon will deprive consumers of their own mode of transport. Infrastructure and transport service is not capable enough to support the extra burden of passangers than it is right now.

How To Save Gas

18 Tips for Saving Money on Gasoline
Gas prices are on the rise. Here are some tips to help you conserve gas and save money as we approach summer gas prices.
1. Keep your car tuned up. Cars in poor running condition use more gasoline.
2. Plan trips well to avoid unnecessary driving.
3. When you run your air conditioner you get much worse gas mileage. Use your air conditioner sparingly. If you have a lower setting, use it. Turn it on until the car gets cool, then turn it off and let the fan circulate the cool air. Never run your air conditioner with your windows open!
4. Keep your windows closed when traveling at high speeds. Open windows cause additional drag and lower your gas mileage. At high speeds, an open window can use more gas than many air conditioners (especially if they are on a low setting).
5. Check your tire pressure. Over-inflated tires can actually reduce your fuel efficiency, so don't overfill.
6. If at all possible, change your work start time to avoid gridlock. Stop and go traffic hurts your gas mileage.
7. Take unneeded items out of the car. You don't need to carry snow chains around with you in the summertime. Just make sure to put them back in when winter comes around.
8. Try not to idle your engine for long periods of time. If you are stuck in traffic and you don't think you are going to go anywhere in the next five minutes, you may want to turn your car off.
9. You no longer need to warm your car up for long periods of time, especially new cars. New cars are made to run when cold.
10. Don't travel at fast speeds in low gears unless you need the compression to slow down.
11. Try to drive the speed limit.
12. Try to accelerate slowly when leaving the stop light. It's not a competition with the driver in the lane next to you. The fastest person through the intersection just gets to spend more on gas.
13. No need to buy the highest priced gasoline. Most cars are built to run on regular unleaded. Check you owners manual or consult a mechanic. I have had many tell me that the more expensive gas is a waste of money.
14. Revving the engine needlessly wastes gas. There is no need to rev before you turn your vehicle off.
15. If at all possible, try to arrange car pools with co-workers to share the cost of commuting to work.
16. Walk, bike or run to your intended location whenever possible.
17. When the price is sky high, don't fill up. Wait for the price to go down before you fill up your tank. Filling up your tank when the price is peaking lets gas companies know that you are willing to pay ridiculous prices for gasoline.
18. And last, the biggest and most important step towards saving money on gas is always try to purchase vehicles that get good gas mileage. The difference between 20 miles-per-gallon and 40 miles-per-gallon is huge.

Sports Cars

Sports cars in Pakistan have gained immense popularity since the WTO pact. It somehow gave a relaxation on import items, with this people in Pakistan who could afford a corolla and civic started buying these sports cars. Importers association figured out that by importing these cheap sports cars, for example, rx 8 could yield great profits. Second hand sports cars were bought from Japan at as low as 0.6-0.7million rupees and sold at an exorbitant price of 1.4-1.7 million rupees. A lot of cars were imported in which Mazda rx 8, evolution Mitsubishi and Nissan 350z were high on the frequency level.
One of the main reasons we do not get to see these cars on roads is firstly the ever increasing prices of petrol. Owners of these cars prefer high octane rather than unleaded petrol. High octane prices in the past have never come down. Last month on 15th November government cut down the price of unleaded petrol and gave a little relaxation to consumers by bringing the price from 76.56 to 66.66, but the high octane price remained at rupees 81.08. One of the other reasons is the maintenance of these cars. It is learnt that many people in Pakistan have money but they do not know how to spend it. They buy sports cars but treat them like local cars. They will change oil when they think the car has reached a certain mileage but the case is different here. Sports cars need a special treatment, whenever there is a full throttle the car uses its engine oil to give out the maximum output. This reduces the life of oil and oil has to be changed because sports cars will only perform well if there is a regular oil change.
Facts and figures show that the sports cars were highly imported from 2000 to 2007, this was because with time people developed a liking for the sports cars and one of the main reasons was the economic boom in Pakistan. Property business in Pakistan touched skies which it never dreamt off, almost all the business sectors well doing good and people were earning a very good amount of money. People felt rich and they bought sportscars for their children as a love token. In Pakistan where we mostly see children spending money of their parents never work for themselves, they have their parents paying for their expenditures. It is true one who earns money with hard work will spend it wisely and if once spent on a high involvement product such as sportscars will maintain it through but unfortunately we do not see this thing here.

We all know what sportscars do, even a five year old child would know that sportscar run faster than any other automobile. The thing that makes them run soo fast and different from eachother is their engine which is highly engineered, and every sportscar has its own unique features. The design of the sportscar is also one the main attraction for the customer as we can look upon the fact that rx7 runs faster than rx8 however rx8 was and still being imported in a large quantity because of its shape. The concept of rear wheel drive is still to be learned in Pakistan as all the local manufactured cars are front wheel drive.

However sports cars will always remain popular amongst the provide to fast drivers is unmatched.

The youth and the thrill they provide to fast drivers is unmatched.
